Play is crucial for the development of social and cognitive skills. With this in mind we ensure that our preschool environment gives children the opportunities to deepen and extend their thinking and learning whilst encouraging collaborative and cooperative play.
The 3+ room is designed as a free-flow environment where the continuity of experience provided ensures the children feel safe and secure which allows them to carry out the play they wish in the environment they know they learn in best. The free-flow environment also allows the children to explore and play in the outdoor area where they can find and self-select appropriate resources to evolve and extend their play and learning. We ensure that every child’s interests and needs are met through our weekly planning so that they are motivated to explore and create their own learning journey.
Continuous provision means that the children have constant access to open-ended resources such as water, sand, mark making resources and others that can enhance key areas of development through play. We know that the use of continuous provision encourages the children to be self-motivated, self-regulated and self-assured which promotes high self-esteem and resilience.
